Aktid revolutionises the waste sorting sector with autopilot, an intelligent, autonomous solution

Faced with a global production of solid waste estimated at 3.4 billion tonnes by 2050 (Source: World Bank), the challenges of waste management are multiplying. France is investing heavily in R&D in artificial intelligence technologies to maximise the efficiency of sorting centres, a sector that could grow by more than 30% a year by 2030 (Source: Reportlinker).

With this in mind, Aktid, the French market leader in the design and construction of sorting and recovery facilities for solid waste, is proposing a breakthrough innovation with Autopilot, designed to make the management of sorting centres autonomous and redefine the sector’s performance standards.

Autopilot by Aktid: a unique solution and the culmination of a strategic vision of innovation

The history of Autopilot began in 2018 with the creation of the Aktid Smart Solutions® range. From the outset, Aktid’s aim was to develop a self-piloting system, with each solution in the range designed to contribute to this objective. Over the years, these Aktid Smart Solutions® have made it possible to control the essential data at various points in the process, forming the technical basis of Autopilot and making intelligent, fully autonomous sorting possible. Based on advanced artificial intelligence, Autopilot automatically adjusts production parameters in real time, based on data collected by a multitude of sensors and data emitted by process equipment, simultaneously optimising throughput, availability and purity of sorted flows. This autonomous management relieves operators of the complexity of managing variations in flows and production hazards, freeing them up for strategic tasks such as stock management, predictive maintenance and team management.

Autopilot has also been designed to adapt to existing installations, combining an overview, powerful analysis and decision-making to act on all process parameters in real time. Unlike conventional solutions on the market, Aktid’s status as a systems integrator and its unique business knowledge make all the difference, enabling it to offer innovative solutions for integrated management of the entire sorting process, thanks to exhaustive data collection ensuring overall, autonomous control of facilities. This complete mastery of processes makes Autopilot unique, optimising the performance of sorting lines in terms of throughput, purity and availability of sorted flows, and significantly increasing the profitability of installations.

“At Aktid, we firmly believe that artificial intelligence is one of the keys to meeting the waste management challenges of tomorrow and, more broadly, those of the Circular Economy. With Autopilot, the performance of our customers’ sorting facilities is significantly improved, and we are actively contributing to a more sustainable future. Together, we are transforming more and more waste into resources, in France and abroad!” says Pierre-André Payerne, CEO of Aktid.
