Technical features

The overload protection damping unit is a mechanical device designed to safeguard the transmission system from sudden overloads during shredding operations. It isolates the electric transmission system, comprising the motor and planetary gear reducer, from the main drive system of the shredder, which includes the gearbox and transmission shafts.

Operation

In the event of a shredder blockage, the friction discs in the damping unit start to slip. A sensor, connected to a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), immediately detects the discrepancy between the motor shaft's rotation and the shredder shafts' stoppage. This system intervenes by stopping the motor within a few tenths of a second, thereby preventing damage to the drive system. Once the shredder is halted, the system signals an anomaly, which must be resolved before the machine can be restarted.

Device structure

The damping unit is composed of two sections:

- Section connected to the electric transmission system
