Great success of up-cycle workshop in Turin
The workshop, designed to illustrate the many current and potential uses of Recycled Tyre Materials (RTMs) in various fields of application, was addressed to a restricted target of specialists from various sectors, from Italy and abroad.
Topics included thermal, vibration and noise insulation, flexible and reinforced concrete, rubber compounds and thermo-plastic elastomeric materials, automotive and rail products, sports applications. Over 50 people from different fields attended the Morning workshop and worked closely at the 4 afternoon tables of discussion on:
- Recycled and ecological building materials and applications, projects and other ways to expand the market
- Smart mobility and New materials: rubber and plastic for the automotive sector
- Improving the use of recycled rubber : Compounds, Devulcanisation, direct moulding, etc.
- Sport : New materials for / from Artificial Turf, how to recycle end of life turf and new generation of infill material
During the morning presentations, delegates discussed topics in detail, made suggestions on new materials and product development. The interaction between researchers of various technical fields, from 10 Universities in various countries and other Research Bodies, Entrepreneurs, Technicians, Developers, etc. created a dynamic and enthusiastic climate encouraging the cooperation. At least 3 new potential projects were outlined. New materials for buildings, automotive and sports were identified, and will be discussed further during the next meetings. A new project on devulcanisation is ready to be put into a proposal. The goal of creating new partnerships and projects for the upcoming EU Funding Calls for 2018-2020 and was fully achieved.
The workshop was a perfect occasion to launch the ETRA Partner Registry, that was well accepted by the participants. It is an important tool to increase opportunities. Applicants may enter their cooperation profile into the Registry and receive further assistance after the workshop as well. They will become part of a dynamic process that includes other opportunities.
